Hanover, Germany, October 24, 2024. Continental is showcasing the extensive range of its products for the two-wheeler industry at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, from November 5 to 10, 2024. In the limelight at the exhibition stand are the motorcycle tires TKC 80, ContiTrailAttack 3, ContiRoadAttack 4 and the ContiAttack SM 2, which was presented at the beginning of the year. Also on show are the new motorcycle display in extra-wide wide landscape format 4:1, as well as the Twin Motor Control Unit, which sets the pace for the automated gear changes for two-wheelers notably including the KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE model. The TMC is also already in series production at a German premium manufacturer in the motorcycle industry.
Our presence at the trade show in Milan reflects our commitment to actively shaping the future of the two-wheeler industry. Our innovations are centered around motorcyclists. We want our products to help ensure that they always have a safe, exciting and reliable riding experience. This applies equally to our tires and to our other technological solutions in the original equipment and replacement business,
says Christoph Ettenhuber, Head of the Motorcycle Tires business field at Continental.
The show-stopping centerpiece of Continental's booth is the frame of a KTM 990 DUKE R equipped with ContiRoadAttack 4 tires and a number of Continental features such as 8,88-inch display and Connected Infotainment Box. In addition to the TKC 80 and ContiTrailAttack 3 adventure tires, the KTM 690 SMC R fitted with ContiAttack SM 2 tires is also turning heads. The road-legal, race-track-tested high-performance supermoto tire was introduced in January 2024. Visitors can also find out more about the Continental portfolio from additional exhibits and interactive screens. Continental is furthermore offering opportunities to talk to the company's motorcycle experts.
Extra-wide 4:1 display to celebrate its debut
At EICMA, the Continental 8.88-inch display of the MultiViu technology platform will celebrate its debut in a 4:1 landscape format. What makes the extra-wide display so special is that it makes optimal use of the limited space available on a motorcycle. Compared to the common 16:9 or 4:3 formats, more information can be arranged extremely clearly in a small space. Besides the legally required information, it is also possible to display additional information – such as navigation or smartphone information – on a single display. This means that a second display is often not needed. The TFT color display impresses drivers with its excellent image quality: a high resolution of 1,920 x 480 pixels and an optical connection (optical bonding) ensure crystal-clear images and high contrast. Thanks to the touch display, the latest addition to the MultiViu Sports platform is easy to use.
Another display Continental is presenting is an 8-inch portrait-format display. A new connectivity unit is particularly user-friendly and improves the riding experience. For example, it offers integrated offline navigation – even without pairing with a smartphone – as well as real-time route guidance. In addition to eSim, the connectivity unit also supports GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Each time the motorcycle is started, the module can connect to the driver's smartphone.
Evolution of transmission automation with the Twin Motor Control Unit
Also on display at EICMA is the Twin Motor Control Unit (TMC) developed by Continental Engineering Services (CES) for the automation of two-wheeler manual transmissions. The TMC sets the standard for various driving and shifting modes, ranging from efficiency tailored for street use to a high-performance mode to deliver a thrilling ride. The range of applications extends from fully automatic shifting to quick shifting without using the clutch and seamless up- and downshifting. The complete system, consisting of two motors and a control unit, requires little space for installation and can therefore be mounted on the motorbike to suit customer requirements. Thanks to its compact dimensions of only 120 mm x 50 mm x 105 mm, installation on the vehicle is extremely flexible and functionality is ensured with minimal effort.
The TKC 80: The icon in the adventure segment
For almost 40 years, the TKC 80 off-road tire has been indispensable for globetrotters and long-distance conquerors on both small and medium-sized as well as super enduros. A true milestone in motorcycle history with a characteristic lug tread and legendary reliability on road, desert sand and gravel roads, which will also be exhibited at this year's EICMA.
The ContiTrailAttack 3: All-rounder for adventure and everyday use
Thanks to its high level of agility, the ContiTrailAttack 3 only needs a warm-up distance of 1,500 meters [1]. It is then already at its optimum operating temperature. The result is outstanding maneuverability, precise handling, excellent comfort and sensitive feedback. This versatile all-rounder also masters off-road and asphalt sections with equal aplomb, as well as varying road conditions from bone-dry to wet. Due to the interaction of MultiGrip technology with an abrasion-resistant center area, the balanced carcass construction and specially cut tread design, the ContiTrailAttack 3 impresses with consistently reliable properties throughout its entire service life.
The ContiRoadAttack 4: The best of both worlds – touring and agility
Perfect for sport touring bikes, the ContiRoadAttack 4 tire offers excellent wet and dry grip, high mileage and agile handling. The compound offers outstanding grip and warms up even faster in wet and cold conditions. Non-sipped shoulders maximize grip and confidence at low lean angles.
The ContiAttack SM 2: High mileage and performance for road and racetrack
The ContiAttack SM 2, which was presented at the beginning of the year, is Continental's successor to the ContiAttack SM EVO. The unadulterated supermoto tire with road approval benefits from innovative technologies and the Continental BlackChili Compound and impresses with excellent track performance and significantly improved mileage. Based on Continental's sportiest carcass, the low negative aspect ratio of the profile guarantees maximum lean angles performance. On the Continental test track, the new supermoto tire beats the lap times of its predecessor, especially on wet roads, and covers the reference course around three percent faster. There are two main reasons for the leap in performance compared to the ContiAttack SM EVO: the innovative GripLimitFeedback technology for added safety at extreme lean angles and RainGrip technology for further optimized wet grip.
At this year's EICMA in Milan, interested visitors will find Continental in Hall 18 at Stand I76 from November 5 to 10.
