Hanover, Germany, June 12, 2024. The jury of the German Award for Sustainability Projects has recognized Continental's UltraContact NXT as one of the best sustainability projects in Germany. With a share of up to 65 percent renewable, recycled and ISCC PLUS mass balance-certified materials, it is the company's most sustainable tire to date. The UltraContact NXT has already won several awards since its market launch, including the Sustainability Award at the Swiss Automotive Show Innovation Awards 2023, the International Design Award 2023 and the German Innovation Award 2024.
We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. It confirms our commitment to developing sustainable solutions for the mobility of the future,
says Maria Hanczuch, Head of Program Management Private Mobility Tires at Continental.
The UltraContact NXT is the first serial-produced passenger car tire with such a high proportion of sustainable materials. We will continue to develop innovative products and technologies that help drive sustainability in the automotive industry.
UltraContact NXT combines sustainability and safety
All available dimensions of the UltraContact NXT achieve the top rating of the EU tire label ("A") in the areas of rolling resistance, wet grip and exterior noise. The UltraContact NXT thus combines maximum safety and performance with a particularly high proportion of renewable, recycled and mass balance certified raw materials.
Continental is working hard to drive forward innovative technologies and sustainable solutions. In doing so, the company is keeping a close eye on the entire value creation process - from the procurement of sustainable raw materials to the recycling of used tires. By 2030, the premium tire manufacturer is aiming for its tires to contain more than 40 percent renewable and recycled materials.
The German Award for Sustainability Projects is presented annually under the patronage of former Federal Minister of Economics Brigitte Zypries by the German Institute for Service Quality in cooperation with DUP Unternehmer and ntv. The aim is to recognize sustainable lighthouse projects and inspire other companies. The aim is to make sustainability visible at all levels - from small to large companies. The award is based on the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of social, economic and environmental issues.
